Character Creations began in 2002 as a custom manufacturer of high quality Promotional Mascots, operated solely by owner, Elisha Baartz. After just a short time word of mouth had spread about Elisha’s attention to detail and her ability to accurately transform any illustration into a wearable mascot. To meet the high demands she was now experiencing, Elisha opened her first workshop with retail space at Balcatta in 2006.
It was then that Costume Hire was introduced into the mix. Elisha journeyed to New York earlier that year to select a range of costumes and accessories to stock in her new shop, and created her first website to showcase the costumes and offer on-line ordering, which was a first for any costume hire company in Western Australia. The successes of this venture lead Elisha and her team to open their second shop in O’Connor in 2007, and to relocate the workroom to this much larger space.
In October 2008 the Cannington store opened, and in 2010 Character Creations relocated from Balcatta to Morley. In a space of just 3 years, Character Creations had moved from a home-based business to having 3 stores and up to 20 staff.
Elisha and her team continue to create amazing mascot characters Australia wide, and are always getting new costumes in the stores so that their customers can look the perfect part at their next event.
